The Recovery Tree

OBHC has a unique way for individuals who have resolved to overcome addiction and/or manage their mental wellness to express their recovery hopes, wishes, dreams and/or thanks.  Inspired by Portland’s Wishing Tree, the Recovery Tree was launched at our Road to Recovery community event in September of 2023.  Attendees were invited to share their hopes, wishes, dreams and/or thanks for recovery from substance use and/or managing their mental wellness, and write them on leaf-shaped notes.  The notes were then hung by ribbons on a lighted artificial cherry blossom tree.

Below are just a few of the wishes, hopes and dreams shared on the branches of the Recovery Tree. Some comments are hopeful, some are poignant, and many are grateful. All are inspiring.

  • I am thankful to be able to live a greater life and not have clouded judgement and make bad decisions. I am doing things addiction would’ve never allowed me to do.

  • This Place is amazing, even tho you might not think so, it changes your life for the better. I Love the help here. It has progressed my life.

  • I hope to get my mental health in order so I can be a more consistant + organized fun parent to my 3 kids.

  • I hope to keep my sobriety progress & learn to remember it will always be a journer, never over, & remember to always care for my journey.
