Notice of Data Privacy Incident

Okanogan Behavioral HealthCare is committed to protecting the privacy and security of the information in our care. On August 23, 2024, we began mailing notification letters to certain clients whose information was involved in an incident.

On May 15, 2024, we learned of an incident that disrupted the operations of some of our IT systems. We immediately took steps to secure our systems, launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic experts, and notified law enforcement. On May 20, 2024, our investigation determined that the threat actor accessed some of the files on our systems between May 13, 2024 and May 15, 2024. We then initiated a review and analysis of those files, which is ongoing.

Through the ongoing analysis, we determined the files contained information belonging to certain clients. These files contained information that varied per individual but could have included one or more of the following: clients’ names, contact information, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license or other identification numbers, medical information including treatment and diagnosis information, and/or health insurance information.

We remain committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of client information, and apologize for the concern this may cause. We are offering complimentary identity monitoring services to clients whose Social Security numbers or driver’s license numbers may have been involved. Additionally, it is always a good idea for clients to review statements they receive related to their healthcare provider or health insurer. If they identify charges for services they did not receive, they should contact the healthcare entity or health insurer immediately.

We take this matter very seriously. To help prevent something like this from happening again, we have implemented additional safeguards and technical security measures to further protect and monitor our systems.

We also established a dedicated, toll-free call center to help answer questions about the incident. The call center can be reached at 833-251-9663, available Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
